The strainer rake apparatus (10) has an attack portion designed in a flexible manner to engage on a screen surface (34) in screen openings (30). The attack portion is formed by a brush or a scraper plate. A screen element (16) is interchangeably selected from a group, which holds a screen mesh, screen hole plate (26) and a sieve gap plate. An independent claim is also included for a method for screening and clearing of solid flowing sewage.
