The head has a connecting channel (8) connected with ends to a central coolant feed channel (3), an outer coolant supply channel (4) and a transverse channel (6), respectively, in a region of coolant supply. The outer coolant supply channel is connected in the region of coolant supply with the connecting channel. The connecting channel is formed by a hole. The central coolant feed channel extends between gas exchange outlet channels toward an inlet side of the head. Crank cases and the head are sealed by a cylinder head gasket.
