The head i.e. milling head (3), has a reduction gear transmission device (23) e.g. two-stage reduction gear, drivably inserted between a motor device (19) and a spindle device (9) for increasing torque delivered by the motor device to a torque value required for the spindle device. The motor device includes two drive motors (21, 22) angularly arranged parallel to each other and separately controllable from each other. Gear input elements (43, 44) are coupled with the drive motors. A common gear output element (49) is coupled with the spindle device.
