The device has a transmission unit transmitting optical signals, and a receiving unit receiving the optical signals. The receiving unit comprises a broad band photo detector, which is provided with an integrated optoelectronic circuit. The optoelectronic circuit comprises multiple photo diodes (1) and amplifiers (2, 4), which are attached to the photo diodes. The optoelectronic circuit is designed such that output signals of the amplifiers are added in a switching technical manner. The photo diodes and the amplifiers are arranged as pairs in form of matrix.
