The component has a pump piston (9) co-acting with a pump operating space (13), and actuated by a cam shaft (2) under interposition of a roller plunger (5). The roller plunger comprises a plunger body, and a roller (7) is guided into the plunger body and comprises a wear-resistive insert, which is designed as a concave, curved ceramic cone. The ceramic cone comprises a ball portion-shaped head, which protrudes over the roller. The cone is arranged on a cylinder-shaped base section, and exhibits diameter that corresponds to one third of diameter of the roller.
