The system (10) has an optical utilization device (100) e.g. telescope, with a pre-defined optical path (106) between an optical input (102) and an optical output (104) for optical imaging of an object to be detected or a scenery (20) on an eye rear side (30a) of a human eye (30) of an operating person. An optical scanning device (300) couples an electromagnetic beam (304) into the pre-defined optical path of the utilization device in a direction of the output, and detects a portion (308) of the beam, where the portion is reflected or repelled from a region of the rear side into the path. The optical scanning device comprises a radiation source e.g. laser, laser diode or LED, for producing the electromagnetic beam. The optical utilization device is formed as a spy-glass, a periscope, an endoscope, a microscope, a camera or a measuring device. INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are also included for the following: (1) a method for controlling functionality of an optical system (2) a device with controllable functionality, comprising an optical system (3) a computer program with a program code to perform a method for controlling functionality of an optical system.
