The device (100) has a reservoir (116) for storing a reducing agent precursor i.e. urea solution, in a liquid form. Another reservoir (118) stores a solvent i.e. water. A mixing region (130) manufactures a pollutant-reducing medium from the reducing agent precursor and the solvent. A conveying device (122) i.e. feed pump, and a metering device (114) introduces the pollutant-reducing medium into an exhaust gas. The conveying device sucks the reducing agent precursors and solvents from the reservoirs in fixed or adjustable amount ratio over feeding lines (120, 126).
