The transformer (100) has a housing (110) made of an electrical isolative material, and a winding enclosing the housing. A high voltage terminal (130) is protruded from the housing and is electrically and conductively connected with the winding. Another winding (120) is arranged on the housing and encloses the housing at an outer side, where the housing consists of a bar (118) that is spaced at a distance away from the outer side and made of an electrically isolative material. The bar is arranged between the high voltage terminal and the latter winding with metal strip. An independent claim is also included for a high pressure discharge lamp comprising a lamp base.
