The device (10) has a transportation unit (16) including a horizontal support (20), a transporting plate (18) and a drive unit, where the horizontal support is moved in a vertical direction i.e. Y-direction. The transporting plate is moved in a horizontal direction i.e. X-direction, on the horizontal support, and the drive unit moves stored goods carriers (26, 28) between the control opening and transporting plate and between the transporting plate and bearing plate in Z-direction. Shelf towers (12a-12d, 14a-14d) of the device have width for storing the goods carriers of different widths. An independent claim is also included for a method for storing stored goods carriers in a storing device.
