The receiver (2) has a base body (4) and a reader antenna (5) arranged in the base body for producing magnetic field lines for excitation of a transponder antenna (10). The reader antenna includes a ferrite core (6) whose two surfaces are aligned to each other such that the field lines produced by the reader antenna are guided outside the base body. The core is formed as U-shape with a base (7) and two side pieces (8, 9) distant from the base. Free ends of the side pieces turned away from the base is arranged at an outer side of the base body.
