The element (10) has a base body (12) with a cross-section having four corners, end faces and lateral surfaces (20, 22). A portion of the lateral surfaces is enlarged in extension direction of the base body and another portion of the lateral surfaces is decreased in the extension direction of the base body. The magnification and/or reduction of lateral surfaces takes place in a linear manner. A main extension of one end face of the base body runs in horizontal direction (30), and a main extension of another end face of the base body runs in vertical direction. An independent claim is also included for a bumper system comprising a bumper.
