The device (2) has a trim part (16) for partially covering a sill and a carpet (22) for covering the sill adjacent to a vehicle floor. The carpet is fixed to the lining part via a fastening unit (32). The trim part has a high stiffness and/or hardness than the carpet, and is formed of plastic or metal covering part. A damping part (28) is fixed on a bottom (26) of the carpet, and is made of a foam part or polyurethane foam part, where the damping part is formed as part of a contiguous module.
