The unit i.e. crash-box (14), has a hollow profile part formed between a carrier component i.e. longitudinal beam (16), of a motor car body and a bumper cross beam (12). The hollow profile part comprises a mounting plate for being fastened at the carrier component, where the mounting plate is formed with a through hole (18) for retaining an attachment screw. The mounting plate lies at an end section of an interior region of the hollow profile part. The mounting plate projects outwardly as a support flange (24) with a side edge over a cross section of the hollow profile part. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a bumper arrangement comprising counter mounting plates arranged in a hollow profile section of a carrier element (2) a method for assembling a bumper arrangement on a longitudinal beam of a motor car body.
