The segment (1) has a base body (4), and a dipole strand (3) fixed to the base body. The dipole strand provides magnetic field, and has magnetically conductive teeth aligned transverse to a movement axis (2). The teeth are arranged equidistantly within a tooth group (8) along the movement axis. A permanent magnet arrangement is attached to the dipole strand for providing constant magnetic field to the tooth group, and a coil and a coil carrier are attached to the dipole strand for providing adjustable magnetic field to the tooth group, where the teeth are phase-shifted to each other.
