Solubilizing and clarifying the water-based cooling lubricants, which are present as an emulsion for quantitatively determining the content of microorganisms, and their metabolic activity, comprises: adding a clarification reagent comprising organic and/or inorganic salts together with non-ionic surfactants in the defined concentration and a composition as a formulation of the cooling lubricant; carrying out immediate clarification at room temperature without heating the emulsion; and carrying out a measurement in a clear, transparent liquid with optical- or physical methods. Solubilizing and clarifying the water-based cooling lubricants, which are present as an emulsion for quantitatively determining the content of microorganisms, and their metabolic activity in the area of interest in real time, comprises: adding a clarification reagent comprising organic and/or inorganic salts together with non-ionic surfactants in the defined concentration and a composition as a formulation of the cooling lubricant; carrying out immediate clarification at room temperature without heating the emulsion; and carrying out a measurement in a clear, transparent liquid with optical- or physical methods, including flow cytometer in real time.
