The arrangement (10) has containers that are held in a stack in holding devices (16, 18) in a force-supported manner, where the topmost container is arranged in a reference position that is predetermined by a path limiting element. The limiting element is attached to the stack, and the holding devices are arranged on a movable base (12). The base is moved by rollers (14), and wire grating cages (22) are arranged on a holding part (20) of the holding devices. The holding part is passed through guides (24) and pressed by springs, where the limiting element is unlocked by an industrial robot. An independent claim is also included for a method for supplying workpieces to an industrial robot for processing the workpieces.
