The method involves connecting a material web e.g. paper film, which is wound on a roller (112), with another material web (113) provided in processing for a roller change process. The connection is automatically performed based on a processing process of a folding device (130), where a connecting point of the webs reaches the folding device at a desired timepoint. The timepoint is predetermined so that the connecting point is not affected by the processing process. An effective material web length from a roller changer (110) upto the folding device is adjusted based on the processing process. An independent claim is also included for a computing unit for performing a method for controlling a roller change process in a material web-unwinder of a processing machine.
