The measuring and reference channels (A,B) comprise sub-channels that are extended between a common distribution channel and a common destination (KS). The non-Newtonian fluid is passed through all channels at same differential pressure. The sub-channels are geometrically similar, such that shear resistance and elongation resistance of non-Newtonian fluid passing through the channels are related by a constant geometric ratio by using initial viscosity index. The deviation of volumetric flow ratio of channels with respect to aspect ratio is detected as viscosity measure. An independent claim is included for apparatus for measuring viscosity of non-Newtonian fluid.
