A mating connector has contact elements (12) extending in plug-in direction (S), when plug connector (1) is attached in insertion direction of mating connector. The contact elements are provided surrounding insulating housing (4). A locking pawl (3) is provided on the insulating housing, in a state latching to mating connector. The locking pawl is attached to guide portion (5) with a slide guide transversely to plugging direction on a sliding plane, such that engaging section is extended from the guide portion having a free end in plug-in direction.
