The circuit (2) has an input (6) driving an electronic switch (4), and an output (5) outputting a control signal to the switch. Another input (11) inputs a feedback voltage indicative of an operating state of a load (14). A comparison circuit (15) compares the feedback voltage with a reference voltage. A control circuit (16) generates the control signal during a faulty operation of the load indicating whether the feedback voltage is above or below the reference voltage. The control signal switches off the switch through the output for a predetermined period of time during incorrect operation. The control circuit is formed as a monostable multivibrator, and the comparison circuit is a Schmitt trigger. An independent claim is also included for a switching arrangement comprising a microcontroller.
