The controller (100) has controlling circuits selected from a zero controller (7), a cold junction (13), a display device (14), and a model-operating system (16) that simulates an operating system. An evaluating unit (12) is provided with an independent field device (11), and excavates a characteristic value of a curve of a field device from measured data of the field device to the model-operating system. The characteristic value of the curve of the field device is compared with corresponding theoretical characteristic value of a theoretical curve. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling operation of a field device of an operating system.
