The metal halide lamp (1) comprises a vacuum-tight two-sided closed discharge vessel (2) which is translucent or transparent for UV radiation and made of quartz glass or ceramic, and two capillaries (5). The discharge vessel is enclosed by an outer envelope and is sealed at one end. A cooling clip (20) is applied to both the capillaries and is fixed to the frame wire (12a). A dielectric disc made of mica is provided in the capillary.
