The method involves defining a set of cartographic information representing a near area (102) of a part of an environment according to a perspective, and defining of another set of cartographic information representing a remote area (104) of the part of the environment according to another perspective, where the two sets of information contain real image information. The near area and the remote area are linked in a transitional area (106). The two sets of information are linked together in the transitional area. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a driver assisting or informing system for representing a segment of an environment (2) a computer program comprising a set of instructions for performing an environment part representing method.
