The method involves controlling semiconductor switches (13, 18) and complementary semiconductor switches (12, 17) with two control signals. The two control signals are aligned together such that the complementary semiconductor switch is switched off before switching on the former semiconductor switch and/or the former semiconductor switch is switched off while the complementary semiconductor switch is switched on. Voltage at a half bridge output is detected. Switch-on delay and/or switch-off delay of the former switch are determined by considering the detected voltage at the bridge output.
