The device has a valve housing body (1) comprising a cylindrical recess (3) with a wall at which a valve seat is formed. A valve closing body (7) has a seat region (9) sealingly lying at the valve seat in a closed position of the closing body. Grooves are formed parallel to a longitudinal axis of the closing body for guiding flow of fluid along the closing body in an axial direction. A pretensioning element i.e. spring (21), is arranged to exert force, directed to the valve seat, on the closing body. An independent claim is also included for a pump comprising a pump housing.
