The switchable camshaft (1) has a basic camshaft (2) accommodating a sliding shaft (11) that is arranged concentrically to a rotational axis of the basic camshaft, where the sliding shaft is displaced in the axial direction relative to the basic camshaft. The sliding shaft is connected with a sliding element (5) by a connecting element (12), where the sliding shaft radially penetrates the through-hole (13) of the basic camshaft. The sliding shaft is connected with an actuator (14) in an end region of the basic camshaft for displacing the sliding shaft in opposite directions.
