The device (1) has a base (2) provided with a mechanism for stretching a head belt, and an adjusting element connected with two ends of the head belt. A clamping piece (7) for clamping a chin belt is connected with the base over a hinge and pivoted around an axle journal (8). The chin belt is fixed between a groove bottom (11) of the base and a contact surface of the clamping piece. The base comprises a groove (6) that acts as a guide for the chin belt. The groove comprises two walls (13, 14) that run parallel to each other, where distance between the walls is continuously changed.
