Operating image pickup device with radiation source and radiation detector, comprises introducing image quality for forthcoming image recording, and determining first information indicating measurement for patient dose rate
The method comprises introducing (S1) a certain image quality (100%) for forthcoming image recording and determining a first imaging parameter, determining (S2) a first information indicating a measurement for a patient dose rate to be expected with the determined first imaging parameter, reducing (S3) the image quality by a predefined or user-definable amount and determining a second imaging parameter, and determining (S4) a second information indicating the measurement for the patient dose rate to be expected with the determined second imaging parameter. The method comprises introducing (S1) a certain image quality (100%) for forthcoming image recording and determining a first imaging parameter, determining (S2) a first information indicating a measurement for a patient dose rate to be expected with the determined first imaging parameter, reducing (S3) the image quality by a predefined or user-definable amount and determining a second imaging parameter, determining (S4) a second information indicating the measurement for the patient dose rate to be expected with the determined second imaging parameter, creating (S5) a third information representing a comparison result between the first and second informations, checking the third information to determine whether the patient dose rate is reduced by the second imaging parameters in comparison with the first imaging parameters, and repeating the above steps on the basis of the second imaging parameters, when a reduction of the patient dose rate is feasible by the second imaging parameters, or performing the image recording using the first imaging parameters, when no reduction of the patient dose rate is feasible by the second imaging parameters. In the checking step, a percentage reduction of the patient dose rate is greater than the percentage reduction of the image quality. The image recording is performed with the first imaging parameters, when the percentage reduction of the patient dose rate is smaller than the percentage reduction of the image quality. A first efficiency value indicating a ratio of the image quality and the patient dose rate is determined on the basis of the first imaging parameters. A second efficiency value indicating the ratio of the image quality and the patient dose rate is determined on the basis of the second imaging parameters. The patient dose rate is detected by a detection device for detecting the patient dose rate. A voltage of the radiation source, a stream of the radiation source, an exposure time, a degree of pre-filtering the radiation emitted by the radiation source, and/or a size of a radiation focus are used as the imaging parameter. An X-ray device is used as the image pickup device. An independent claim is included for an image pickup device such as an X-ray device.
