The method for axial positioning of a rotor (10, 50) rotationally driven on two radial bearing units (13) that are arranged in a frame unit (36), is claimed. Bearing rollers of the bearing units lie at a circumference of the rotor and are arranged in the frame unit with its roller shafts axially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the rotor, where spacing A of the roller axes is changed by an actuator unit (24) of the frame unit symmetrically to the longitudinal axis of the rotor. An axial shift of the rotor is detected using a contact unit resting against the circumference of the rotor. The method for axial positioning of a rotor (10, 50) rotationally driven on two radial bearing units (13) that are arranged in a frame unit (36), is claimed. Bearing rollers of the bearing units lie at a circumference of the rotor and are arranged in the frame unit with its roller shafts axially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the rotor, where spacing A of the roller axes is changed by an actuator unit (24) of the frame unit symmetrically to the longitudinal axis of the rotor. An axial shift of the rotor is detected using a contact unit resting against the circumference of the rotor. The contact unit transfers the axial shift of the rotor, as a pivoting angle, to a rotation transducer of a measuring unit (35), where the measurement value is transmitted as a position value to the actuator unit for the alteration of the spacing A of the bearing rollers. Independent claims are included for: (1) a device for axial positioning of a rotor rotationally located on radial bearing units; and (2) a measuring device useful in a device for axial positioning of a rotor.
