The printing apparatus (C) has paint carrying cylinder (2) and impression cylinder (5) for coating the UV paint (17) on printing substrate in respective print zones (12,13). A radiation source (8) is arranged in conveyance direction (7) of substrate, at preset distance from impression mold (11) in print zone (13) to emit the radiation to UV paint on substrate. The emitted radiation is passed through the impression mold and is deflected into UV paint by the paint carrying cylinder so that UV paint is solidified. An independent claim is included for method for operating printing apparatus.
