The device (300) has an disengageable die (240) for receiving and deforming a deformation element (210), when the deformation element is moved by impact energy in radial force feed direction (120). A support element (250) is arranged in the housing (220) for supporting the die in a transverse direction to the feed direction and for moving the die to release the radial force. A blocking device is movably arranged in the housing so as to fix the support element in support and release positions. An actuator (260) is provided for triggering the blocking device. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) method for adjusting rigidity of impact receiving device in vehicle; and (2) control device of vehicle.
