The method involves receiving individual images of the interior of a hollow organ (2) with a camera (14), where a structure element is identified by automatic image processing in one of the individual images in the hollow organ. An actual value is calculated for the movement of an endoscope capsule (4) from the change of the position of the structure element between the individual images. The actual value is compared with a predetermined nominal value and is discharged depending on the difference of a control signal (S) for the controlling of the movement of the endoscope capsule. An independent claim is included for an endoscope unit for generating and transmitting the individual images from the interior of the hollow organ to a controlling- and evaluating unit.
