The method involves connecting a synchronous generator (5) and converter (6) of electrical power unit, and performing capacitive and inductive phase shifter operation to detect harmonics generated during operation of the synchronous generator. Load balancing of the synchronous generator is performed and compliance of the synchronous generator with power supply rules is observed. An independent claim is included for electrical power unit.
