The sleeve (10) has a hollow-cylindrical base body (12) provided with a terminating sleeve base (14) in a front end region (10a) of the sleeve. The sleeve base with the base body forms a monolithic composite, where the sleeve base is partially transparent for guiding a laser radiation (L) in a wavelength range of a laser spark plug. The sleeve is made of a polycrystalline ceramic material, particularly polycrystalline neodymium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet. An optically active surface of the sleeve base is smoothed or polished, where the surface has a roughness of 0.001 to 0.05 microns. An independent claim is provided for a laser spark plug with housing.
