The electric machine has a rotor, and a stator with several stator segments. The stator segment (210) has an insulating sheath (410) provided with teeth portion (214) on which a winding wire (420) is wound to form a stator winding. The winding wire is arranged partially against the insulating sheath. The sections of the winding wire along the axial extension of the stator segment are applied against the insulating sheath. An independent claim is included for method for manufacturing stator winding.
