The differential (1) has two opposing crown gears (12) rotatably supported around a longitudinal axis (A) in a cylindrical inner surface of a housing (2). The housing is designed as a pipe section, which is a trimmed portion of an extruded or drawn pipe i.e. seamless pipe. Externally toothed pinion gears (4) are rotatably supported in the housing and engaged with the crown gears. The pinion gears comprise spherically shaped portions (S) with which the pinion gears are supported on the inner surface of the housing along an axial direction.
