The panel (10) has a core layer (11) made of a honeycomb structure that is arranged between cover layers (12a, 12b) and directly connected with one of the cover layers. A splinter protective layer (13) is integrated in the panel, arranged between the core layer and the other cover layer and firmly connected with the latter cover layer. The protective layer is formed from aramide or ultra high molecular weight polyethylene material. The cover layers have a glass fiber laminate, a carbon fiber laminate, an aramide layer, a ceramic layer or a sheet metal. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a composite panel.
