The device has a guide rail comprising rail sections (14) that are exhibited in double T-shaped cross sections. A transport train is provided with a drive unit that is designed as a component of a towing vehicle of the transport train. The rail sections of the guide rail comprise lower and upper flanges (19, 23) running parallel to each other, and slots that are interconnected with each other. The drive unit comprises a gear wheel (11) that is operatively connected with bolts at a side of the guide rail. The drive unit is supported with carrier rollers (17) on inner sides (18) of lower flange.
