The component (10) has a light emitting semiconductor chip (1) provided downstream of a wavelength conversion element (2) that converts a part of UV light from the chip into conversion light with spectral components in a wavelength range of greater than or equal to 500 nm. Another wavelength conversion element (3) is provided downstream of another wavelength conversion element that converts another part of UV light into another conversion light i.e. blue light, with spectral components in the wavelength range of less than 500nm, where superposition of the conversion lights yields white light.
