The method involves producing impulses by an impulse generator proportional to the rotation of a direct current motor. A position counter is reset to operating voltage-compensated standardization value after moving an element e.g. window pane, driven by a drive shaft of the motor to a defined blocking position. The standardization value of the counter is determined based on actual operating parameters determining torque of the motor, where position of the element is determined by the reading of the counter.
