Method for determining temperature of gas in combustion chamber of e.g. diesel engine, for passenger car, involves determining temperature of gas based on total mass and pressure in chamber, rotation speed of engine and volume of chamber
The method involves determining total mass comprising a total gas mass (m) and mass of fuel in a combustion chamber (101) of an internal combustion engine at a predetermined crank angle. Pressure (p) in the combustion chamber is determined at the predetermined crank angle. Rotation speed of the combustion engine is determined. Volume (V) of the combustion chamber is determined at the predetermined crank angle. Temperature (T) of gas in the combustion chamber is determined at the predetermined crank angle based on the total mass, the pressure, the rotation speed and the volume. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for determining a gas temperature gradient in a combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine (2) a method for determining a residual gas amount in a combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine (3) a method for determining internal exhaust gas reconducting mass in a combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine (4) a method for determining total gas mass in a combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine (5) a method for determining oxygen contents during a compression stroke in a combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine (6) a method for controlling an internal combustion engine (7) a control device for an internal combustion engine.
