The spindle has a tool holder (11) i.e. hollow shaft-steep-cone-holder, and a spindle motor (9) stressed with a spring, where the spindle motor is provided with a rotor (17) and a feeding unit that is axial movably passed through the spindle. The feeding unit and the rotor are indirectly torque-proof coupled with each other. A fastening member (27) includes an axial groove (33) for receiving a nose part (35) of the feeding unit, and a passage or a front surface. The passage or surface and the nose part are guided in axial direction when the nose part is unscrewed from the groove. An independent claim is also included for a method for opening and closing a tool holder of a spindle.
