The method involves covering an aperture (10) of a component (12), with which a removal device (16) is introduced in the area of the aperture under penetration of a masking element (14) in the aperture. The masking element is lifted from the component by an axial movement or a screwing movement of the removal device. An independent claim is also included for a removal device with a separating element.
