The method involves injecting fuel with multiple jets by an injector (1), and defining a plane, in which both the central axis (11) of the injector and the central axis (12) of the cylinder (13) are located. Another plane is defined, in which both the central axis of the injector and the surface normal of the formal plane are located. The jets are generated such that, for each jet pair that is formed from two of the jets, an angle between the projections of the two central axes of the two jets of the jet pair in the latter plane is less than 50 degree. An independent claim is included for a device for injecting fuel into a combustion chamber of a cylinder of an engine of a vehicle.
