The device has a diffraction device with a controllable material i.e. liquid crystal molecule, where a prism and/or lens function and a scatter function are one-dimensionally controllably registered as a diffraction grating with a phase curve in the diffraction device. Observer windows (SP1'', SP2'') are produced with coherent light beams at changing eye positions. The grating of the scatter function includes phase fluctuations controlled with changeable frequencies based on a distance (d2) of an acquired eye position, for which a size of the windows is controlled for a representation mode. An independent claim is also included for a display comprising a light modulation device.
