The monitoring method involves placing a heating element (43) with temperature-dependant resistance value in or at or under an evaporation container (42) of refrigerator (10), and activating the heating element. The operating parameter of the a heating element is detected. The detected operating parameter is compared with a predetermined reference value. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) an evaporation method for evaporating an evaporation container; (2) an evaporation device; and (3) a refrigerator, particularly a domestic refrigerating appliance.
