The device (10) has a feeding device (12) for supplying films (13, 15) to a splicing element (11) in a flow direction (R). A cutting blade (18.1) and a connecting device (19.1) are arranged at a pivoting element (17.1) of a splice head (16.1) such that the pivoting element is pivotable between a cutting position for cutting the films and a connecting position for connecting the films. The splice head is moveable on the films to connect the cutting blade or the connecting device with one of the films based on a position of the pivoting element. An independent claim is also included for a method for splicing films i.e. aluminum foils.
