The present invention aims to provide a waterproof electrical connector that can prevent an oil content or the like from adhering to an attachment portion of a hot melt member, thereby preventing the hot melt member from peeling and improving waterproofing, and further aims on a method of assembling the waterproof electrical connector. In a squib connector (10), an outer peripheral wall (25) is provided so as to surround an outer peripheral side of an area in which a hot melt member is to be attached to a main case (12) and a cover case (14) to thereby prevent it that a worker touches the attachment area with a finger or the like when assembling the squib connector (10). The outer peripheral wall (25) has a through opening (26), and the detachment of the hot melt element is reliably prevented by the connecting engagement of the through opening (26) with the hot melt element penetrating into it.
