Cosmetic and non-therapeutic use of platycodin for influencing natural pigmentation process of hair and hair follicles in armpit region, for treating shaven, epilated and/or hairy body surfaces in the armpit region, and as an active substance in agents to be applied topically, for reducing shaving frequency or epilation frequency, is claimed. An independent claim is also included for a deodorant or antiperspirant cosmetic agent comprising (a) at least one active substance containing (in wt.%, based on the total weight of crystalline water-free and/or ligand-free active substance in the agent) at least one deodorant active substance (0.5-40) and at least one antiperspirant aluminum salt (2-40, preferably 12-20), and (b) at least one platycodin compound (0.00001-0.5 wt.%, preferably 0.001-0.01 wt.%, based on the total weight of the composition without propellant), in a carrier.
