The collimator has iris diaphragms (2) stacked on top of each other, formed from a material absorbing X-ray radiation and comprising apertures (9) forming a contour (1). The apertures of the iris diaphragms are equally large, and lie congruently on top of each other. An adjustable mechanism (3) simultaneously adjusts the iris diaphragms. The iris diaphragms comprise circular arranged crescent-shaped lamellas. The iris diaphragms and the adjustable mechanism are arranged in a cylindrical housing. The lamellas are made from X-ray radiation impermeable material. An independent claim is also included for a method for adjusting a contour of an optical path of an X-ray radiation.
